queen of the hill 2016
Custom Jacket commissioned by the Queen of the Hill dance battle organizers held at the EMP (now MoPOP) for the first-place prize. The competition invited eight female dancers from around the US to spread awareness and celebrate females in the dance community. They asked for the name and year of the event, a character, and the event colors (red, gold, and black) in the design.
The character is in the old school hip hop style with bamboo earrings, a beaded necklace with nameplate, and a tracksuit. I went with the yellow and black colorway on the tracksuit as a nod to a queen bee and bruce lee’s suit in the game of death.

Custom Jacket is commissioned by a dancer who travels internationally, competing, judging, and teaching. He asked for his name, his crews, and the spade symbol included in the design and that I use purple.
I gave Rashaad three different letter styles to choose from before moving forward with painting the jean jacket.
